Unit WUCM1

WUCM1 case study: BAFA

Introduction

Through this unit, we will look at a case study of website development.

The case study features a prospective website for an organisation called the British American Football Association (BAFA). BAFA is the National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of American Football in Great Britain.

NGBs are the overall ruling body for a national sport. They may organise their own competitions (e.g. leagues, cups) or delegate that responsibility to member organisations. NGBs are often involved in organising the national team (e.g. England, GB or UK) that competes in international competition for their sport. NGBs are typically involved in promoting their sport, encouraging people to play it, and making sure there are enough coaches and officials (referees) to meet demand. They often oversee qualifications in various aspects of their sport. In some sports there is one NGB for the whole of the UK; in other sports there are separate ones for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
