Outstanding requests/orders: software

     

Status of Macromedia deal

Signed. NAL objects being built. Once done, it will be officially announced. Authorware, Director, Studio (Dreamweaver, Flash Pro, Fireworks, FreeHand, Cold Fusion Developer Kit), Contribute.    

Microsoft Visio

Is it covered by Select agreement or MSDN licence? EK to find out whether it is included in existing deals No it's not.

Outstanding requests/orders: hardware

     

Recent deliveries

LPA Prolog renewed (£750); OmniPage Pro ordered; PC for Frank ordered; tablets delivered    
  Dell machines. Concerns expressed that the specification is a bit "over the top". Nothing to do with this committee. EK to talk to Jane Chandler EK has not written to Jane, but ISO are revising their processes to raise alerts about over-specification.

PCs and notebooks for ISCA

ISCA is about to order new equipment. EK to suggest specs for new desktops, notebooks and tablets with USB peripherals Done and tabled.

Strategy/policy

     

Maths assets

Jim's list. Proposal. JSB to negotiate with Andy Osbaldestin. Sent proposal. No response yet.

SOC/CT split

The Committee discussed some of the issues concerning the departmental merger and the demise of ECAM. JSB to talk to HoDs JSB had talked to Simon Claridge who seemed to agree that operation of the labs should stay broadly the same as at present.

Major projects

     

Lion Gate labs roof

Roof work will be undertaken between 25th July and 2nd September. New machines will be installed after 5th September so the lab will not be fully operational until mid/late September.    

Operational issues

     

Richmond support staff

MH team has more work than others. Some slack in other teams (Richmond & Anglesea) so will fill in on occasion.

New Faculty Wiltshire technician will also assist with Mac lab in MH.

   

Any other business

     

Heat in labs

Heat in LG labs. AC to raise with Faculty Manager. Will attempt to get monitoring in place.
