The consent form

The following is taken from Dumas and Redish (1999) “A practical guide to usability testing” Intellect publishers.

It is important to obtain informed consent from participants in order to protect their rights. The consent form to be signed by the participant must therefore explain

You must convey the information in the consent form clearly and completely and you must ensure that the participant has had enough time to ask questions and to understand its meaning. In addition, the participants must be free from coercion and undue influence when you ask for their consent. In particular it is important to remember that unjustifiable pressures may occur when you are in a position of authority over the participant.
