WEB1P 2011-2012 Semester 1 Supervised Work Session

Schedule

Friday 9th December 2011. Meet in Lion Gate 0.14a at 0930 prompt for briefing. The specification will be available here from approximately 0900 onwards.

At 1630, each group must submit their group's work. Hand-in for this will be direct to the SWS tutor (Dr Briggs), not to the Admin Office.

Individual work (the deliverable from Task C) must be submitted via Victory by Friday 16th December 2011. Normal coursework hand-in regulations and procedures apply.

Tasks

The SWS will consist of a group development exercise involving Java servlets and JSPs. Familiarity with developing these with NetBeans will be assumed. Some initial development work (Task A) needs to be undertaken to prepare for the SWS. This can be done either individually or as a group.

Marking scheme

Groups

The SWS will be carried out in groups of 3 or 4. If you wish to form your own group, please notify the names of its members to me (Dr Jim Briggs) to be recorded here before Friday 2nd December. Anyone not in a notified group will be randomly assigned to a group. If a majority of students indicate so, all groups will be allocated randomly.

Extenuating circumstances

Under the University's Extenuating Circumstances policy:

• the policy is not applicable to Task A because it's not assessed
• the Supervised Work Session (Task B) will be regarded as an "Examination Type" assessment
• the report (Task C) will be regarded as a "Coursework Type" assessment if you attempted Task B, but as an "Examination Type" assessment if you were unable to do so for valid reasons
